Twice Dark, the brainchild of Bloomington, Indiana-based artist Josh Kreuzman, emerged in 2020, captivating listeners with its haunting, spectral soundscapes. Drawing from goth, industrial, electronic body music (EBM), Italo disco, and dark wave, Twice Dark evokes a retro elegance reminiscent of the 1980s music scene. The project channels the melancholic grandeur of decaying industrial spaces, creating music that feels like a journey through shadowy realms. As Post-punk.com aptly described, Twice Dark’s sound is “dipped in auditory shadows,” echoing with a haunting resonance.

Kreuzman’s artistic journey began long before Twice Dark. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture and a Minor in Art History from Indiana University Bloomington, he has been immersed in the creative world since 2005. His passion for music started in 1992, playing in punk bands during high school. Throughout college, Kreuzman continued to explore alternative and indie rock before eventually evolving his sound into the darker, more eclectic style that defines Twice Dark today.

Twice Dark seamlessly blends goth and industrial with elements of cold wave and deathrock, creating a unique auditory experience that is both eerie and enthralling. Kreuzman’s vision is shaped by his fascination with the decaying beauty of industrial spaces, which plays a pivotal role in his music’s haunting atmosphere.

In 2022, Kreuzman curated the Midwest Gothic compilation, showcasing bands from Indiana and across the Midwest. The project was celebrated as "awesome" and "stacked with talent" by Soundandshadows.com, solidifying Twice Dark’s place within the regional gothic and industrial music scene. The compilation’s release was marked by a live show in Indianapolis in early 2023, further highlighting Kreuzman’s dedication to supporting local talent.

Looking toward the future, Twice Dark is set to release its 2025 album, Telekinetic. The album promises to push the boundaries of Kreuzman’s dark sonic landscapes even further, drawing listeners deeper into his neo-gothic world. With Twice Dark continuing to gain recognition, Telekinetic is expected to cement the project as a rising force in the realms of darkwave and electronic music.

As Josh Kreuzman continues to explore the darker side of sound, Twice Dark stands as a testament to his artistry and dedication to the neo-gothic genre. Fans of darkwave, EBM, and goth music should keep an eye on this innovative project as it shapes the future of dark electronic music.
