When Seema Farswani began writing Sketches on the Walls, she wasn’t just composing a song — she was capturing the evolution of her own life. The single unfolds like a personal diary in melody, tracing her path from Dubai to Chicago, and later to Berklee College of Music, Boston. Each verse feels like a brushstroke, blending nostalgia and rediscovery into a powerful pop-fusion piece that speaks to anyone who’s ever rebuilt themselves.
At its core, Sketches on the Walls explores how the black-and-white sketches of our past become the vibrant canvas of who we are today. It’s about carrying shadows — the memories, judgments, and experiences that shape us — until we learn to see ourselves in full colour.

From Design to Songwriting: A Journey of Reinvention
Before music became her calling, Seema built a career as a designer in Chicago — a world of sketches, concepts, and layered visuals. But when life changed course — from marriage to motherhood, from being an expat wife to rediscovering her independence — she found herself turning back to music as her most authentic expression.
Sketches on the Walls is her way of saying: reinvention is always possible. It’s a message to every woman juggling dreams, motherhood, and identity — that creativity doesn’t fade; it evolves.
She calls it “a song for my girl tribe,” celebrating women who keep reinventing themselves and painting their lives in their own colours.

The Story Behind the Song
The inspiration for Sketches on the Walls came to Seema one reflective evening in Boston, looking out at the city skyline. The Hindi bridge —
“Tootey sapney, bikhrey armaan, aashaein, manzilen chhod aaye hum kahaan”
(“Broken dreams, scattered desires, hopes and destinations left behind — where have we come to now”) — arrived to her naturally, connecting her Indian roots with her global creative journey.
That verse became the emotional centre of the song, representing resilience and rediscovery. It mirrors Seema’s personal transformation — from a designer in Chicago to a singer-songwriter who found her artistic voice again.
“Life came full circle,” Seema reflects. “Being a designer taught me how to layer textures, balance spaces, and create visual harmony — just like composing a song.”

The Sound: Fusion with Heart
Musically, Sketches on the Walls blends pop-rock and synthpop with touches of world fusion. The textures are cinematic yet grounded, echoing influences from the Berklee College of Music environment where Seema honed her craft. The Hindi bridge melts seamlessly into the English verses, creating a truly global sound.
The production, handled by Seema’s talented BTS team, adds warmth and polish without overpowering her emotive vocals. The song feels alive — like a moving canvas where every note adds a new hue.
A Collaboration Across Continents
The final version of the song came to life through a heartfelt collaboration with Rish (Level Music, Mumbai), a Berklee alum and celebrated Hindi-English fusion artist. Working remotely across time zones, Seema and Rish crafted a sound that merges heartfelt lyricism with intricate harmonies and soaring backing vocals.
While Seema composed the melody and lyrics, Rish added chords, harmonies, and the lush vocal layers that elevate the track into a global-fusion masterpiece. Their teamwork showcases how creativity transcends boundaries — geographical, linguistic, and emotional.
Why “Sketches on the Walls” Matters
Beyond its melodic appeal, Sketches on the Walls delivers a message of hope, courage, and authenticity. It’s about honouring our unfinished lines, finding meaning in imperfection, and celebrating how art — whether in design or music — helps us come home to ourselves.
As Seema beautifully puts it:
“Through Sketches on the Walls, I invite listeners to see the beauty in unfinished lines, embrace their inner artist, and colour their own stories boldly.”
With heartfelt storytelling, bilingual poetry, and a cross-cultural soul, Seema Farswani’s Sketches on the Walls stands as a glowing testament to creativity that knows no borders.
