Lana Crow is an emerging singer-songwriter whose music beautifully blends ethereal synth-pop, cinematic soundscapes, and deeply personal storytelling. Known for her haunting vocals and emotionally rich songwriting, Lana creates music that explores themes of love, mental health, resilience, and self-discovery. Her latest track, “I Do,” reflects her ability to transform personal pain into powerful art, inspired by sleepless nights, emotional struggles, and the unwavering support of her husband. With a sound that feels both intimate and expansive, Lana is carving out her own space through raw vulnerability, poetic lyricism, and music that resonates on a deeply human level.
The Long Journey That Inspired “I Do”: “I Do” feels incredibly personal and emotionally raw. What was the exact moment or experience that inspired you to write this song?
The song has a long and rather complex trajectory. The chorus tune was the very first melody I dreamed up and decided to turn into a song; you’ll recognize it in 'I Will,' the title track of my first album. As they say, the first pancake is usually a mess, and I felt my first song was a bit of a mess, too. 'I Will' is an okay track, but it’s quite simple, both lyrically and melodically. At the time, the producer I worked with was very opinionated. Because I was new to everything, I didn’t feel I had enough of a voice to insist on the ideas that were important to me, plus I didn’t really know what I was doing. I wouldn’t say that 'I Will' was a complete failure, but I still thought that first musical conception of mine deserved better. I set the intention to one day rewrite the song—and the right idea finally arrived several months later.
The exact moment of inspiration happened one night while I was away on holiday with my kids. I was hit by a bout of brutal insomnia. Nights like those are incredibly difficult because I struggle to function the next day. As I lay awake, I kept thinking of my husband and how he would usually comfort me. That feeling of darkness and the longing for his presence inspired the new verses, and I expanded the melody into something that actually made the song complete in my view. The rawness you’re talking about is the direct result of the mental and physical discomfort I experienced that night.

Healing Through Dark Nights: You’ve shared that the song was born during sleepless nights and emotional breakdowns. How did music help you process those difficult moments?
Most of my emotional breakdowns are linked to poor sleep. Insomnia always leads to physical struggles, and I cannot say that music generally helps me with those issues, unfortunately. This particular song, however, was a huge reward for the sleepless night I endured. My biggest mental challenge during insomnia is the feeling that I’m wasting precious time—lying there in the dark, trying not to wake anyone else. Finally getting this song written, something I had intended to do for a long time, was a reward I happily accepted. It gave me a sense of achievement; I looked at the exhaustion as the price I had to pay to get the song exactly where it needed to be.
Love Through Chaos: Your husband’s support plays a major role in the story behind “I Do.” How did his presence shape both the emotional message and the lyrics of this track?
I essentially described our journey, which was anything but straightforward. We both had our own insecurities and ideas about things, and I reckon cultural differences got in the way at times, too. On the outside, I was this wild and fun person; but on the inside, I was weighed down by so much. My husband’s love has certainly been instrumental in my own rediscovery. We do appreciate each other; in many ways, we grew up together.

The Meaning Behind “I Will, I Do” : The line “I will, I do” feels like both a promise and a survival mantra. What does that phrase personally mean to you today?
Before we got married, we were asked whether we wanted to say "I will" or "I do" during our vows. On the advice of our priest, we chose "I will," as he felt it was more appropriate as a future-facing promise. By combining both phrases in this song, I’m essentially saying that the promise I made then remains true today. It’s a way of showing that I am actively living out that commitment in the present moment.
Creating the Atmosphere: Sonically, the track blends haunting synth-pop elements with cinematic emotion. What was your creative vision while crafting the soundscape of “I Do”?
When I was young, I loved the sound of A-ha! Their songs always had a magical, slightly ethereal quality, and I have always been a huge fan of that atmosphere. I asked my producer to create something with a similar feel, and George Harris took those classic A-ha elements and interwove them with more modern sounds. I was thrilled with the result; it captured that nostalgic magic while still feeling fresh and current.
Artists Who Shaped Your Sound : Your music has been compared to artists like Imogen Heap, Lana Del Rey, and Florence + The Machine. Have any artists particularly influenced your sound or songwriting style?
I know it sounds controversial coming from a songwriter, but I hardly listen to music nowadays. I simply do not have time to listen to music or watch anything, really, so none of those names have influenced me. If there is any underlying influence, it would be from older bands like A-ha and Duran Duran, which I used to listen to when I was young.
Choosing Vulnerability: “I Do” speaks openly about mental health struggles in a very honest way. Was it difficult to be so vulnerable in your songwriting?
No, I have no problem with being vulnerable, especially if other people find it relatable. We are here to help each other, and I think we can only really help each other if we are honest about who we are.

Voice of Emotion: Your vocals feel both fragile and powerful throughout the song. How do you approach delivering such emotionally intense performances in the studio?
Well, I try to feel what I’m singing. If I’m not moved by the performance while I’m recording it, I don't think the listener will be either.
Message to Listeners: What do you hope listeners take away from “I Do,” especially those who may be going through their own difficult emotional battles?
We all go through dark periods, and it is nothing to be ashamed of. Recognizing your own darkness is the first major step toward releasing it; it really is that simple. We all get indoctrinated and make poor decisions as a result, but it is never too late to start observing what is really happening both inside of us and out. Once you find yourself at that moment, help usually arrives from the most unexpected places.
