James Bay Teams Up with Brandon Flowers for New Single ‘Easy Distraction’
James Bay is back with a fresh, exhilarating track, "Easy Distraction," co-written with The Killers' iconic frontman, Brandon Flowers. This upbeat guitar-driven anthem is the second glimpse into Bay’s highly anticipated fourth studio album, Changes All The Time, set to drop on September 20 via Mercury/EMI.
In "Easy Distraction," Bay delves into the emotional complexity of realizing someone’s importance a little too late, but still striving to connect. His powerful lyrics, “For every mistake, I’ll give you my hand/ Just promise to hold it wherever we land,” perfectly capture the sentiment. The track builds up to a reverb-drenched solo, showcasing Bay’s signature blend of heartfelt lyrics and soaring melodies.
Working with Flowers was a dream come true for Bay, who counts The Killers as one of his biggest inspirations. The collaboration came about after a mutual friend connected the two, leading to an unforgettable writing session in Park City, Utah. Bay described the experience as “unbelievable” and expressed his hope for more collaborations in the future.
"Easy Distraction" follows the lead single "Up All Night," featuring Noah Kahan and The Lumineers, both of which promise an exciting direction for Bay’s new album. Fans can catch James Bay live on his UK and Ireland headline tour in February 2025. With his new album on the horizon, Bay is set to deliver another chapter of emotionally charged, anthemic music.
