Formal Training with Global Impact

Daniel’s musical journey expanded through formal education at two of Europe’s top music institutions: the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam. His focus on both classical and jazz styles gave him a versatile foundation. However, it was his master’s degree in Contemporary Performance at Berklee College of Music (Valencia Campus)—where he studied under the legendary Gary Willis—that truly unlocked his global vision.

At Berklee Valencia, Daniel met Shakthi Prasad, a talented Indian producer. A chance meeting in Turia Park, a well-known cultural hub in Valencia, turned into a musical partnership that would shape the soul of his debut project.

Daniel de Boer, a Dutch-born bassist, singer, and composer, is redefining what it means to make music in a globalized world. With his self-described genre of “world pop,” Daniel has set out on an extraordinary path to connect cultures, instruments, and musical souls through original songs that celebrate diversity and human connection. His journey—from the island of Texel to Berklee Valencia and beyond—has shaped a sound that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.

The Birth of a Cross-Cultural Album

During the pandemic pause in 2020, Daniel finally found the space to write and reflect. Sketching nine original compositions, he laid the groundwork for what would become his debut album. After moving to Spain in 2021, he began reaching out to his network of international musician friends—and something magical happened.

Musicians from over 16 countries said yes to the call. The album, still rooted in Daniel’s personal songwriting style, became a living mosaic of cultures. Listeners can hear a vibrant blend of instruments like diatonic accordion, lyra, oud, and oriental percussion—each bringing authentic flavor and heritage.

Roots in Texel: Music from the Beginning

Growing up on Texel, a small island in the north of The Netherlands, Daniel was immersed in music from birth. Raised in a musical family, he was surrounded by instruments and rhythms that became the building blocks of his passion. He began with accordion and moved through piano, drums, and guitar before falling in love with the double bass at the age of 18. This instrument, rich and resonant, became his voice.

A Sound Without Borders: The World Pop Style

Daniel de Boer’s music resists genre boxes, blending pop sensibilities with global rhythms and textures. Whether it’s the rhythmic pulse of Middle Eastern percussion or the airy sweep of European strings, his songs are united by one thread: emotional storytelling. Each track is shaped not only by Daniel’s lyrics and melodies but also by the cultural identity of every performer.

This is music with meaning. It’s bold, borderless, and beautifully blended.
